“Our physical collection of over 1.5 million archived items encompasses the full length of Sri Swami Satchidananda’s life and teachings, and contains the full gamut of media formats. As we began the digitization process, it was clear that we needed a very powerful and flexible tool that could not only store and organize our digital originals, but also utilize our existing databases in the ingestion process, make customizable derivatives, and be fully searchable. Starchive has met all of our requirements (and more!) and the continued support and dedicated involvement from the Digital ReLab team has been phenomenal.”
- Tilak Pyle, Yogaville Archivist
Yogaville was founded in 1980 by Yogiraj Sri Swami Satchidananda, whose western renown stems from his opening of the Woodstock festival.
The ashram is the international organizational headquarters of Swami Satchidananda's documented teachings, located in the county of Buckingham, Virginia. The primary vision of this world-traveled guru Yogiraj Sri Swami Satchidananda (1914-2002) was interfaith understanding as a vehicle to world peace. To this end, with his vision and much work from thousands of disciples and admirers, the LOTUS (Light Of Truth Universal Shrine) was constructed and inaugurated in 1986.
Yogaville is an ongoing archival project for Digital ReLab. The ashram has a tremendous archive of materials in all media types. As the process of digitization is ongoing – Starchive plays a critical role as a depository and organizational tool for everything as it becomes digitized
